Our Adoption Information & Procedures

We strive to place our dogs into a home that will be a good fit for the particular dog as well as the best fit for your family. This can take about a week, sometimes more, depending on how quickly we can reach your references, vet, etc. To help speed up the process please let your references know we will be reaching out. Our rescue is run strictly on a volunteer basis. Please be patient with us.

*Applications are processed in the order they are received. Giving false information can result in denial. Incomplete applications will be delayed. Please be sure all information is true and complete to help speed up the process*

Steps to the adoption process are as follows:

  • Someone will reach out to you letting you know they are starting your application or with any questions or concerns so watch for an email.
  • Once references are contacted, we will schedule a home visit. This is required for all adoptions.
  • The next step is what we call a sleepover or trial period. The dog will stay with you for up to a week, 2 weeks in some cases, which will help you to get to know each other and determine if it will be a match. After this time, if you decide they're the right dog for you, we will finalize the adoption and collect the adoption fee.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or have a co-adopter
  • All current pets must be up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention
  • Current pets must be spayed or neutered unless advised against by a veterinarian

Fostering Information

Fosters save lives!

We are a foster based rescue - there is no facility for our dogs. Our dogs are placed in loving foster homes until they are adopted into their furever homes! The only way that we can continue to save lives is with ROCK STAR fosters who open their homes to Houston's dogs in need.

What does RaB provide?

Everything needed to care for your foster dog. Rescue pays all medical expenses and provides monthly prevention. Some foster parents provide crates, food, toys, etc but this is not required. RaB can also provide these things.

FOSTER APPLICATION

Foster To Adopt

How does foster to adopt work?

Our foster to adopt program allows you to take your chosen puppy home before being altered or receiving all rounds of vaccines (depending on age). The rescue will be financially responsible for remaining vaccines, alteration and any known medical needs before being placed in your care. Once the puppy is spayed or neutered we will finalize the adoption and make it official!

***You must fill out an adoption application to foster to adopt***
